Accommodation

Board NINA through the open cockpit or the wide walk-through transom swim platform, ideal for boarding from the water. Owners Comments and Boat History

NINA is a 2004 Roger Hill 9.5M power catamaran constructed in New Zealand from epoxy-laminated Corecell, creating a lightweight, high-strength hull designed for fast, stable planing performance. She began her life on the US mainland, based out of Fort Lauderdale, before her current owner brought her south to the Caribbean.

In 2019, NINA was delivered from Florida to the British Virgin Islands and onward to the US Virgin Islands, where she was re-registered in the USVI. Because the voyage technically took her outside US waters, a 1.5% USVI import duty was paid upon re-entry that year, with the import and duty receipt retained in the owner's files. She has been based and cruised primarily in the USVI ever since.

Rather than simply maintaining a twenty-year-old vessel, her owner approached NINA as a long-term project, systematically rebuilding and upgrading nearly every core system over six years of ownership, including the electrical system, helm and electronics, engines and structure. The philosophy throughout was straightforward: worn, faulty or outdated equipment was upgraded rather than simply patched or replaced in kind.

That approach is evident throughout the vessel. The original (3)-battery, shore-power-only electrical system evolved into a 10.2kWh lithium bank with a comprehensive Victron charging and monitoring suite and nearly 1kW of solar. Original analog gauges and vintage GPS equipment were replaced with a fully networked Simrad and NMEA 2000 helm complemented by Starlink connectivity. The transom was replaced and reinforced, the exterior was refinished in AwlGrip, and the original teak decking was replaced with AwlGrip non-skid.

The engines have been maintained at regular intervals since 2019, with upgrades including new alternators, a new lower unit and a new steering pump. The result is a proven 2004 epoxy-Corecell hull extensively updated with modern systems and infrastructure completed between 2019 and 2026.
